Quinn could hear the lesson behind the words, and it wasn't lost on her. Sometimes she laid in bed at night wondering if Wade was alright, if Scotty had gotten a scholarship to CU like he'd wanted, if Erin and her beau were still together, whether it was worse leaving or being left...

"Thing is, I can't undo the past," she sighed. "But at least Immortality gives me a chance to set it right."

She might've been talking about Wade, or Adam, or something else entirely.

"So, you've been skinny dipping in a neighbor's lake?"

"Not lately," she admitted with a mischievous smile. "But yeah."

"So, soon. I'm intrigued."

"Soon?" she echoed, confused. "Unless you were planning on jumping into the sea starkers, there's no 'soon' about it. That's about the closest thing I have to a lake."

"I might. Look at all of the water right outside. You might be surprised."

"You might be, too," she laughed. "It's not exactly Bora Bora out there. Bit cold for my taste. Personally, I prefer a good hot tub."

That could've been an invitation, or a simple statement of fact.

"So, how's your pint?"

"You have one, so if that is an invitation then I might take you up on it."

"It's...nutty."

"It could be, but that depends..."

Yes, she was flirting, and it'd be a cold day in hell before she admitted it.

He sat up a bit in his chair, "Oh, really? What would that depend on?"

"Should it be clothing optional or mandatory?" she asked with a cheeky smirk. "Gods know I could get myself into a lot of trouble if it was optional."

It took her a second to realize that her mouth had gotten the better of her, again. She quickly covered her blush by taking another sip of beer.

He laughs, "You could get in trouble if it was optional, yes."

"Right, mandatory it is then. No sense in getting into too much trouble right off."

She smiled to herself. Maybe there was something between them after all.

"Now is that Mandatory to be naked or not naked?"

"Let's start with not. Probably safer that way."

"I don't know about that. I find myself more attracted to the tease of what is below."

Her only answer was a raised eyebrow. So, he liked to be teased, did he?

"And that's it." He says as he takes another drink but swaps it out for something red.

Quinn nodded as she finished off her own pint.

"Not bad, this," she said, then waited for the barkeep to move off before continuing. "No Nazis, no running, just th'two of us having a nice chat."

"Which, never happens with us. There's always something, isn't there?"

"Usually, yeah. I guess that's what makes it so nice. Odd, but nice."

"Will it last, do you think?"

Quinn rested her chin on her hand and looked at him.

"I hope so," she answered honestly.

But she knew the warrior within her would always be challenging, testing, the company she kept. Always trying to prove she was just as good, if not better, than they. Daring someone to push back, hoping they would.

He looks at her for a moment, searching for the truth. Is that really what she thinks or is she just giving him what he might like to hear? It's not the first time that they weren't honest with each other.

She held his gaze for a moment, once again feeling the pull of attraction between them. For too long, she'd denied it was ever there, and it was time to stop lying to him. But most of all, it was time to stop lying to herself.

"I'm serious," she said on a soft sigh. "Guess I'm just tired of fighting what's been there all along."

He puts his beer down, "What are you saying, Quinn?"
